SPAB | The Old House repair project completed
The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB), the UK’s oldest conservation charity, took on a Grade II* ‘building at risk’ near Maidstone, Kent in 2018. This ‘sleeping beauty’ had been empty for around 50 years. Today, this remarkable property, now transformed into a comfortable three bedroomed home, is ready for a new chapter and is looking for new owners.
Here Matthew Slocombe, CEO of SPAB and project architect Mal Fryer guide you on a tour of the building describing how the SPAB approach has been used to understand the buildingand to work out its story and structural development. By asking the questions: who, what, when, why, and how, the best conservation solution has been identified and delivered by a team of specialist conservation architects, builders and craftspeople, including specialist main contractor Owlsworth Conservation www.owlsworthconservation.co.uk
Today St Andrew's is a comfortable three-bedroomed home. See www.spab.org.uk/old-house-pro...
